Excellent opportunities for medical staff at Forward Thinking Birmingham and Tier 4 CAMHS in-patient services

Are you interested in having a career with a radical and integrated 0-25 Youth Mental Health service which is the first of its kind in the country?

We have fantastic opportunities for medical staff to work at both Forward-Thinking Birmingham (FTB) community services and our Tier 4 in-patient Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) services.

These are exciting times as we continue to make significant investments in our mental health services to expand our portfolio with more innovative pathways and integrated models of service delivery. FTB is looking forward to building on the successful elements of the service whilst working with partners to improve mental health service provision across Birmingham and the West Midlands for children and young people.

What we're looking for

If you are a dynamic, ambitious and collaborative medical colleague with a passion for high-quality mental health care, we would like to hear from you. We can offer you a perfect platform to develop your career in a very supportive and fulfilling environment working as a consultant psychiatrist or a speciality doctor in substantive, fixed-term, secondment, bank or acting-up opportunities. We have a strong and diverse network of peers working in several core and specialist services to enrich your professional experience and offer an excellent learning environment.

To name a few, our services and pathways include Eating Disorders, Personality Disorders, Early Intervention in psychosis, Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment, Learning Disabilities, Adult ADHD, Youth offending and award-winning schools' mental health projects.

Working within our Mental Health Services, our staff are supported with many opportunities for career development and progression. The Trust has strong links with the University of Birmingham and the Institute for Mental Health and supports consultants interested in medical research and medical education. We recently helped establish a first-of-its-kind Midlands-based Doctoral Training Programme, training future healthcare professionals working in mental health. In 2021, we also implemented a brand-new staff retention scheme, allowing our Psychologists to further develop and progress in their roles. In February 2022, we opened a first-of-its-kind Urgent Health Centre in Edgbaston in collaboration with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation. This centre contains a new PDU (Psychiatric Decisions Unit), which will aid crisis and urgent assessments for young people under 18 and is part of the ongoing investment in mental health services by Birmingham and Solihull.
